Meditation Techniques for Beginners

Before practicing meditation, it is important to read about meditation techniques for beginners. You might just visualize a monk sitting with legs crossed while humming. This is what meditation is all about. For example, some may want to take a different approach too and this is perfectly okay. Just remember to be comfortable in your own skin and you’ll be fine.

1. Find a quiet place

When I say this, it doesn’t mean the place has to be completely silent. Just make sure to steer clear of places with loud noises. Try to sit in an erect position and just relax.

 

2. Be “present”

Be aware of your surroundings instead of ignoring them. How does your body feel? What are you hearing? Anything that relates to your 5 senses is game when it comes to being present.

3. Take a deep breath

Taking deep breaths will make you feel more calm and relaxed. You may inhale through your nose or mouth. It doesn’t matter how you do this. Whichever way is best for you. Try to keep focused on your breathing and this will take your mind off any negative thoughts that come your way.

 

These three tips will help you get started when it comes to meditation for beginners. Just don’t stress too much on how or what you are doing in your practice and you should be fine.
